Building Connections at Minute Café

At Minute Café, every detail is created with intention. From the menu to the atmosphere, our goal has always been simple — to build a space where people feel comfortable, connected, and truly at home.

That vision led to one of the most meaningful features in our café — the Community Clock Wall.

A Wall Inspired by Richmond’s Diversity

Located in the heart of Richmond, BC, Minute Café is surrounded by one of the most diverse communities in Canada. Every day, people from different cultures, backgrounds, and stories walk through our doors.

We wanted to reflect that diversity in a way that was simple, meaningful, and instantly relatable.

That’s how the idea of the Community Clock Wall was born.

Clocks, each representing a different country, are coming together on one wall, just like our community comes together in one space.

Why Countries, Not Cities?

When designing the wall, we made a conscious decision to represent countries instead of cities.

Why?

Because countries carry identity. They represent roots, culture, and belonging — without creating divisions or preferences within regions.

This approach allows more people to feel included, seen, and represented.

Whether someone is from Pakistan, India, China, Canada, the Middle East, Japan, or anywhere else in the world, they can look at the wall and feel a connection.

More Than Just Clocks

At first glance, it may look like a beautifully designed wall. But when you take a closer look, it becomes something more.

Each clock tells a quiet story.

A reminder of home.
A family connection.
A memory from another part of the world.

The idea is simple, but the meaning runs deep.

No matter where you’re from, you belong here.

A Space That Sparks Conversations

One of the most beautiful things about the Community Clock Wall is how people interact with it.

Customers often:

  • Pause to find their country
  • Take photos and share them on social media
  • Start conversations about where they’re from
  • Connect with others who share similar roots

What started as a design element has naturally become a conversation starter and a connection point.

And that’s exactly what we hoped for.

A Photo-Worthy Experience

In today’s world, experiences matter.

The Community Clock Wall has also become a photo-worthy spot inside Minute Café — a place where people capture moments, memories, and a sense of identity.

But beyond aesthetics, it carries meaning — and that’s what makes it special.

A Reflection of What Minute Café Stands For

Minute Café was never meant to be just another coffee shop in Richmond.

It was built as a community-first space — where people can gather, relax, and feel a sense of belonging.

The Community Clock Wall reflects our core values:

  • Inclusivity
  • Diversity
  • Connection
  • Community

It’s a quiet reminder that while we may come from different parts of the world, we share the same space, the same moments, and often, the same stories.

One Moment, Shared Together

Time zones may be different across the world.

But inside Minute Café, those differences fade.

Here, people sit together, share conversations, enjoy coffee, and create memories — all in the same moment.

And that’s what the Community Clock Wall represents.
