When we first decided to open Minute Café in Richmond, BC, the idea was simple: create a welcoming place where people could enjoy fresh pastries, quality coffee, and a warm atmosphere. But the journey from idea to reality required much more than planning — it required dedication, teamwork, and a lot of hands-on work.
A True Family Effort
One of the most special parts of building Minute Café was that it became a true family project.
Instead of simply hiring contractors for everything, we decided to be part of the process ourselves. From painting walls to assembling furniture and polishing wood, many parts of the café were built with our own hands.
Even the kids joined in.
They helped with small renovation tasks, watched the transformation unfold, and experienced firsthand what it means to build something from the ground up. These moments became some of the most meaningful memories of the entire journey.
There were long evenings and weekends spent working on the space, sometimes tired but always motivated by the shared goal.
